Can you imagine what life was like as little as twenty years ago?
Personally, I was a student back then, so I have especially fond memories of those days. I was working several student jobs while studying. This helped me gain my first diverse work experiences, from promoting new products to restoration work. We hung out a lot with friends, attended parties and got to know each other. The money I saved from my work made it possible for me to get to know the world.
This time really needs to be put to good use. In 2004, Slovenia became a member of the European Union. Our currency at the time was the Slovenian tolar, or SIT for short. If you had 5,000 SIT in your pocket, you were basically sitting on a treasure. Today, these 5,000 SIT represent approximately 21 EUR. We used mobile phones without any apps, only to send each other messages. Bluetooth connection came very shortly after that, and so did phone cameras. Being able to pick your favourite song as your ringtone was simply the best feeling in the world. Not to mention a game or two… More or less, mobile phones served their basic purpose – calling other people. In 2004, Mark Zuckerberg founded Faceboook. Back then, we communicated differently. And our senses were less pressured, too. At work, during breaks, people rarely touched their mobile phones, unless they needed to make a private phone call. Moms with strollers in cafés chatted with one another. There were no selfies, no countless digital photos, no unlimited digital advertisements. As little as 20 years ago, our senses were by at least 30% less burdened with information we received from the environment. But even then, at the very beginning, mobile phones were indispensable companions of the vast majority of people. And the situation hasn’t changed today. The development of mobile and information technology practically exploded. Screen changes, first and then new apps, developing thousands of options, etc. A new world has opened up to us humans. We literally HOLD THE WORLD IN THE PALM OF OUR HAND. Applications offer guidelines for practically everything one can think of. From shopping lists to physical exercise, sleeping habits, payment cards, news reports… We can make use of highly developed artificial intelligence that can write a doctoral thesis. And, of course, we must not forget the main drivers of the marketing spin – Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
We can only imagine what will be possible 20 years from now!
Japan has recently begun testing 6G technology. I believe (this information is not precisely dated) that last year, for the first time ever, a surgical operation that was performed in China was observed by American experts who were virtually present in the operating room as observers. Two years ago, I had the opportunity of testing virtual glasses which, of course, was an extremely interesting experience. I played table tennis in a room with a fireplace. My teammate was a representative of the feline species. When I wanted to lean against the ping pong table, things did get a little awkward, however…
What fascinated me the most were the edges of my play room. You could step back into reality and then back again through the matrix. I had to repeat this a couple of times to believe it. I cannot even imagine having a world like that all around me. But everything seems to be going in this direction. I like to watch people when they’re taking a walk or during another recreational activity. There is a lot of talk, including about nature and the best way to take care of it. About climate change. An extremely small proportion of the population even notices the nature around them. Even when taking a walk, people rush, in order to take care of their physical fitness, or they talk to each other. We watch and admire artificial formations and plantings in front of modern apartment blocks. We create straight artificial lines that cannot be found in the natural environment. On the other hand, quite frankly, if I now tell you to breathe in, close your eyes and travel in your mind to a place where you feel relaxed and well… Can I tell you a secret? No one has ever travelled to their prestigious car, their villa with a pool, or their property. All of our minds first go to nature. Even for people who no longer even see it in its entirety when they are taking a walk. Nature is our natural environment, and this is where we belong. Creating a new illusion will not make us happy; it will only additionally burden the functioning of our nervous system. For humans, the environment we create represents an additional stress. Now more than ever before, humans need to relieve their entire functioning, and this need will obviously only intensify. They need to unburden their mind from all the quick information it absorbs, and also unburden their bodies. The floating chamber offers people a real shelter from the constant stimuli of the outside world. Magnesium nourishes and relaxes the body while your mind rests. Finally. Away from everything. In the darkness and silence. I cannot conclude with my own words, since the words of one of my clients are simply perfect for the situation, so I’ll summarise them here: “A piece of heaven.”
